| accept payment for their services in Travel Tokens from other members
at their full rack rate. If for example a hotel normally charges the equivalent
of £75.00 per night and a guest stays for 2 nights, the hotels account will
be credited with 150 Travel Tokens. The guest's Travel Tokens account will at
the same time be debited with 150 Travel Tokens. The hotelier may then either
use these Travel Tokens to buy other services or sell them through DTC to other
companies or the general public. If he takes the first option he will receive
services to the full value of his Travel Tokens. If he decides to sell them he
will receive 50% of their face value in hard cash.
Example
If a hotel, over the course of 12 months sells 40 room nights at a rate of 75
Travel Tokens per night, his account will be credited with 3000 Travel Tokens
in addition to the 500 Travel Tokens he was allocated when joining making a total
of 3,500 Travel Tokens. If he decides to spend 1,000 or them to buy other services
his balance of 2,500 Travel Tokens can be sold for the equivalent of £1,250
sterling resulting in a total benefit equivalent to £2,250 sterling. All
this has been achieved by using his spare capacity which otherwise would have
generated nothing.
Who will buy the excess Travel Tokens ?
Any company or private individual can become a member of Direct Travel Club which
will allow them to purchase travel tokens at 50% of their face value. A company
who spends the equivalent of £10,000 per year on travel will in effect only
have to pay £5,000 to receive the same purchasing power.
How will travel tokens be sold ?
A member may, at anytime during the year decide to sell their Travel Tokens by
simply depositing them in the pool. This will be administered by DTC who will
sell them on the members behalf on a first come first served basis. The exception
to this is the Tokens given to the member on joining who although can spend them
immediately can not sell them until the end of their membership year.
How do I make a reservation ?
Complete the service request form which will be e-mailed to the host member who
will then reply within 24 hours as to the availability of the requested service.
If the reply is negative it means the host member cannot accept the booking
as requested. If you wish to try another host or change your requirements you
must complete a new service request form.
If the reply is affirmative the booking will be held for 48 hours by which
time you must decide whether or not you wish to proceed by clicking on the appropriate
link which e-mail the host member who will confirm the acceptance.
At this stage the token accounts of the members will be debited and credited
accordingly.
How much does it cost ?
The Annual membership fee is £250.00 sterling plus a one off joining fee
of £50. Direct Travel Club also charge a handling fee of 2.5% on all purchases
and sales of Travel Tokens. All charges are subject to VAT at the current rate.
